The BOOMTOWN Gallery

The BOOMTOWN Gallery is the Jackal & Hide’s flagship project.
The BOOMTOWN Gallery, a celebration of women’s stories, is situated under a tunnel on a disused railway track. The gallery also marks the beginning of the Hilton Rail Trail.
The space converges mural art and storytelling through interactive content that can be accessed via QR code.
This project celebrates the artistic expression and communal narrative that is at the heart of African culture. And, the gallery shows that at the core of every space is art and storytelling. Through these stories and experiences, we forge our place and sense of belonging.
The gallery aims to show that art is inclusive, rather than exclusive. Art should have no barrier to entry and isn’t just something to be appreciated in art galleries. Art should be stumbled across in the most unlikely places and should reflect the culture and zeitgeist.
The BOOMTOWN Gallery is an example of how we can reimagine and invigorate forgotten spaces, while also celebrating nostalgia, heritage, and history. The gallery celebrates everyone who uses the space and is a vital connection point that allows a lot of “invisible” members of the community to gather.
